Summer 2023

Join Riverside State Park Foundation and our special guests for Wednesday’s in the Woods. Spend June Wednesday evenings learning about and doing what you love best, being Outside!

These are FREE public events happening every Wednesday in June from 6:30pm – 8:00pm at Riverside State Park Bowl and Pitcher Day Use Area (Discover Pass required in all Washington State Parks)

June 7Camp Cooking with Kurt and Shirley. Learn how to create a yummy camp dinner with little effort and minimal clean up. Don’t miss this delicious presentation! (Location: Picnic Shelter at the Bowl and Pitcher)

June 14 – Hoot Show! Join the West Valley Outdoor Learning Center and experience the incredible world of raptors, aka “Birds of Prey”. Learn about their nocturnal habits, vision, and auditory senses. Meet one of their feathered education ambassadors that inhabits the Outdoor Learning Center. Ice Cream courtesy of Riverside State Park Foundation! Yum.

June 21 – Bats, Beautiful Bats! WA State Parks Archeologist, Sarah, will educate you on our Eastern Washington BAT population. Learn the benefits of bats in nature and how they control mosquitos and other unpopular pests. Drawings for BAT houses, BAT books, and BAT T-Shirts!

June 28 – Moose, Cougars, and Bears, Oh My! Being outdoors with wild animals doesn’t have to be scary. Join the WA Department of Fish and Wildlife to find out how to deal with animal encounters in the outdoors. Be the lucky winner of some bear spray, courtesy of the Colville Rangers!
